1939 Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-006

Description

1939 WDDO-006 is a doubled die obverse on the 1939 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A clockwise (CW) spread pivoting from about 3:00 shows on IN GOD WE TRUST and the upper right of the 1 in the date. On the obverse, a gouge heads NNW off the upper part of the I of IN, several scratches run SSW from under the chin toward the E in WE, and a crack crosses the base of the bust. On the reverse, two parallel scratches run ESE, linking the lower T in UNITED with the E, and a crack runs down the eagle's right wing. John A. Wexler submitted the variety.
