1937 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-001

Description

This 1937 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent repunched mint mark, WRPM-001, is cataloged by Wexler (doubleddie.com) as 1937-S 1¢ WRPM-001. The mint mark is S/S West. Stage A obverse: light east-west scratches across the vest, a SW scratch from the G of GOD, a NE-SW scratch inside the O of GOD, light north-south scratches through LIBERTY (heaviest from the B), and a scratch north from the lower tip of the 9. By Stage C the secondary is weaker at its upper left curve and only the B scratch remains. Reverse: a very light north-south crack left of the left wheat grains (A), north-south gouges west and NW of the T in CENT (B), and by Stage C faint remnants of those gouges plus light chips on the wheat crack.
