1931-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Description

Holding the primary catalog position for the semi-key 1931-D date, this VarietyVista-documented Lincoln Wheat Cent shows progressive mintmark attenuation alongside die deterioration. Die markers UVC-035 / DMR-002: Stage A with strong secondary mintmark at EDS and reverse at LMDS; Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C with weak secondary mintmark at LDS, a very light die crack over V.D.B. (designer's initials), and reverse at VLDS. The die crack over Brenner's initials provides a late-state attribution marker. Struck at the Denver Mint in 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, the 1931-D had a mintage of only 4.48 million pieces — one of the lower Depression-era Denver outputs — making die varieties inherently scarcer.
