1929 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-001

Description

1929-D WRPM-001 is a repunched mint mark on the 1929-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D North, with the secondary D north of the primary. Obverse Stage A: a light NE/SW gouge at the upper left of the first T in TRUST, and lathe scratches in the space separating bust and rim. On Stage B the gouge is weaker and the scratches under the bust are weak or gone, and those that remain are mostly under the bust's front. Reverse Stage A has a NE/SW scratch running inside the first U of PLURIBUS and through its lower left. On Stage B that scratch is weaker and shows only inside the U. Lloyd Hanson submitted Stage A and John Bordner Stage B. CONECA lists it as RPM #1; the Coppercoins number is 1929D-1MM-001. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
