Description
1900-P VAM-17 (Very) Near Date, Doubled Right 0, Die Scratches Below Wing Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, January 1980. 17(revised) III2 14 · C3a ((Very) Near Date, Doubled Right 0, Die Scratches Below Wing) (189) Obverse III2 14 – Right 0 slightly doubled at top outside. Touch of doubling at top of 1. Date set further left than normal. Reverse C3a – Diagonal die scratches at bottom outside of eagle’s right wing. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: Despite the listing description, this is clearly a very near date. On a late die state, the scratches on the reverse are still visible, but eroded. The obverse doubling on the date is blurred and the rim below the date is crumbling.
