1887-P VAM-14 Near Date Discovered by Oscar Simpson, May 1978.Revised 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015 14 (revised) III2 14 - C3a (Near Date) (189,190) Obverse III2 14 - Date set further left than normal. Die 1 - Die marker - Single short polishing line in hair gap at jaw-neck junction. Die 2 - Die marker - ? Die 3 - Die marker - Fine polishing lines in hair gap at jaw-neck junction. Die 4 - Die marker - Two raised die bars at top inside of ear. Die 5 - Die marker - Two short vertical die scratches at bottom of inner ear fill. Gouge extending hair below bottom of cap, 1st hair strand. Reverse C3a- Die 1 - Die marker - Series of diagonal polishing lines at eagle's left wing-body gap. Die 2 - Die marker - Heavy diagonal die scratch at wing-body gap. Die 3 - Die marker - Three polishing lines in gap at right side of upper tail feathers. Die 4 - Die marker - Polishing lines inside wreath bow. Die 5 - Die marker - Two short diagonal die gouges in eagle's wing-neck gap.
