Description
1887-P VAM-14.5 Near Date Discovered by Oscar Simpson, May 1978.Revised 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015 14.5 (revised) III2 14 - C3a (Near Date) (189,190) Obverse III2 14 - Date set further left than normal. Die marker - Two short vertical die scratches at bottom of inner ear fill. Gouge extending hair below bottom of cap, 1st hair strand. Reverse C3a - Die marker - Two short diagonal die gouges in eagle's wing-neck gap. DPIS - Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments 1. Dead-on PUP (Pick-up Point). Only coin in the 87-P series that has a gouge extending hair just under bottom cap. See photo. (Hagler).
