This is an example of those horrible VAMs (1887-P VAM-14.3) that slowly morph into another "VAM" (1887-P VAM-14D) leaving a huge grey area between. # See the insert photo showing Railroad Tracks. From Heritage photos this is the only gouges recognized in LFCP's. # Die marker - Small die scratches to the inside of each leg and a die crack through most of UNITED.polishing lines at TY # 1887-P VAM-14-3 is the EDS of 1887-P VAM-14D where the doubling inside ear is very minimal, but the unique die scratches at TY (Liberty) along with the near date placement should lock attribution, EDS don't have die chips at 88. image:mysterio-vam-14_3_plate-rev.JPG image:mysterio-vam-14_3_plate-D-shape.JPG Gouges in the Y of LIBERTY ---------------------------------------------------------- Below the cap in the middle, just down in hair see two gouges. image:JERICHO785_1887-P_VAM-20_2_FEB2010_TY_PUPS.JPG image:1887 RonH VAM-14 Die 1 Railroad Tracks Obv Die Mark .jpg
