1883 (O) Morgan Dollar - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002

Description

1883-O WRPM-002 is a repunched mint mark on the 1883-O Morgan dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as an O/O South. The obverse shows doubling on the date's 1 (Wexler's marker line labels this WRPM-002), die damage under the 18, and a scratch from the denticle above the dot between PLURIBUS and UNUM. On the reverse, tool gouging shows inside the ribbon's upper area, on the upper right wing, and on the first, second, fourth and fifth leaf clusters on the wreath's left side (Wexler's text reads lead clusters). David Mulberry submitted the variety; the upgraded photos come from a coin submitted by Hartley Cole. CONECA lists it as RPM #2, and its VAM number is #4.
