1883 (O) Morgan Dollar - Repunched Date WRPD-001

Description

1883-O WRPD-001 is a repunched date on the 1883-O Morgan dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler writes it as 1883/1, with the 1 repunched to the south. On the obverse, the die is damaged under the 18 of the date, and a scratch starts at the denticle over the dot that separates PLURIBUS and UNUM. The reverse carries WRPM-002, an O/O South, and has tool gouging inside the upper part of the ribbon, on the left side of the wreath at the first, second, fourth and fifth leaf clusters (Wexler's text says lead clusters), and on the upper part of the right wing. David Mulberry submitted the variety; the upgraded photos come from a coin submitted by Hartley Cole. Its VAM number is #4.
