1883 (O) Morgan Dollar - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-001

Description

1883-O WRPM-001 is a repunched mint mark on the 1883-O Morgan dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as an O/O West. On the obverse, a crack heads east from the lower left of the date's 1 to the first 8. On the reverse, an E/W crack joins the tops of UNITED's letters, and a crack runs ENE from the right center of DOLLAR's A to the third leaf cluster on the wreath's right side. Light scratches run south under the eagle's beak, an NNE/SSW crack crosses the left wing tip, and an NNW/SSE crack passes through OF and the right wing tip. David Mulberry submitted the variety; the upgraded photos come from a coin submitted by Hartley Cole. CONECA lists it as RPM #1, and its VAM number is #3.
