On some specimens 8 has a spike of metal on left side between loops. Open 9 variety. '''Reverse C3x -''' Same reverse die as 1879-S VAM-65, 1879-S VAM-75 & 1879-S VAM-80 with acid treated lower right ribbon middle towards S mint mark, bow & some leaves in left wreath. Over polished reverse with shallow peripheral letters and thin disconnected wreath leaves.
