=1878-P VAM-121 Doubled Motto= Discovered by Guy Messing, May 1974. This coin is a Top 30 1878 Variety 121 II/I 38 - B2a (Doubled Motto) Obverse II/I 38 - LIBERT in LIBERTY doubled slightly on left side. Strongly doubled 1 and 3 stars on right. E, P, U and R in E PLURIBUS strongly doubled. 1 in date doubled at top right. Tiny die chip in front of eye with raised area below eyelid. Reverse B2a - Type B reverse, with shorter center arrow shaft DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # It is not uncommon to find an abnormal R of PLURIBUS on '78-P Rev of '78 varieties, but the R of the VAM-121 has the appearance of another letter embedded within it.
