Templeton Reid (Georgia) Gold (1830-1849)
Coin Series
About This Series
Private gold coins produced by Templeton Reid, first in Milledgeville, Georgia (1830) using Appalachian gold, and later in San Francisco (1849) during the Gold Rush. Reid's Georgia coins in $2.50, $5, and $10 denominations are extremely rare, with the $10 being unique. The California $25 gold pieces are also great rarities. Reid was among the earliest private gold coiners in America.
