Lesher (Colorado) Dollars (1900-1901)

About This Series

Silver octagonal dollars produced by Joseph Lesher of Victor, Colorado, as a private monetary experiment. Each dollar contained one ounce of silver and was stamped with the names of merchants who agreed to accept them. Multiple types exist with different merchant names, creating numerous varieties. These represent one of the last private silver coinage attempts in American history.
