Large Draped Bust to Left Quarter Eagles 1808

About This Series

A single-year type produced only in 1808, featuring John Reich's Capped Bust design on the quarter eagle. With a mintage of 2,710, this is one of the rarest regular-issue U.S. gold coins. The large-diameter design was replaced the following year by a reduced-size version. Surviving specimens are highly prized as both type coins and gold denomination rarities.
