About This Coin

Gold coins struck by Ephraim Brasher, a New York City goldsmith and neighbor of George Washington. The 1787 Brasher Doubloon is among the most famous and valuable American coins, with specimens selling for millions of dollars. Brasher also countermarked foreign gold coins to certify their weight and fineness. The 'EB' hallmark appears on either the eagle's breast or wing.
