2024 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse VDDO-001

Description

VDDO-001 is a DDO variety for the 2024 Lincoln Shield Cent documented by VarietyVista. The doubling presents a compelling multi-intensity profile: strong spread on the date and TRUST, medium spread on IN GOD WE, and light spread on LIBERTY — a graduated pattern that maps the hub displacement vector across the obverse die face, with elements near the point of maximum displacement (the date and TRUST at the lower right) showing the strongest effect and those farther from it (LIBERTY at upper left) showing the weakest. Three die stages have been provisionally identified: Stage A with both obverse and reverse at early die state, Stage B at mid die state (unconfirmed), and Stage C at late die state (unconfirmed). The strong spread on the date produces a readily visible secondary image of the numerals that can often be detected without magnification. Strong spread on TRUST complements the date doubling by providing a nearby secondary diagnostic zone. The three-tiered intensity gradient (strong/medium/light) across three obverse text elements provides a sophisticated diagnostic fingerprint that effectively rules out machine doubling, which typically produces uniform flat-shelf displacement without the graduated intensity characteristic of genuine hub doubling.
