Description
2024 WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse on the 2024 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A CCW spread, lightly hubbed but widely spaced, is visible on the ear, eyebrow and chin, on the vest at the back, and on LIBERTY's Y. Obverse markers: a NE/SW pre-die crack depression in the upper hair; a gouge right of the forehead; a strong scratch leading SE from the nose; weak scratches leading SW from the B of LIBERTY; small gouges over and under the E of LIBERTY; a gouge over the R in TRUST; and a gouge centered on the vest just under the lapel. On the reverse, feeder finger damage extends NE from the shield's right side. Gouges lie over the O of ONE on its right side, inside the U of UNITED, and below the I of UNITED. Eric Schmidt submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
