Description

2024 WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 2024 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The date, LIBERTY and the motto show strong doubling. Obverse markers: a gouge (dot) in the field under the 24 of the date; light vertical scratches under the LIB of LIBERTY; a gouge (dot) in the D of GOD, inside its opening; and a light vertical gouge SW of the D in VDB. Reverse markers: chips on the shield's upper edge over the PLUR of PLURIBUS; a gouge over the shield's right edge; a light gouge running down from the lower part of the U in UNITED; at the E of STATES, a gouge at the rim above it and a gouge (dot) in the field below it; a gouge right of AMERICA's first A; a gouge (dot) SE of the O in ONE; and a vertical gouge at the rim, SE of the shield's lower tip. Van Thomas submitted the variety. VarietyVista lists it as VDDO-001, and its Coppercoins number is 2024P-1DO-001. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
