2022 (P) Maya Angelou Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

2022-P MA WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 2022-P Maya Angelou quarter (American Women series), cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is on the underside of Maya Angelou's earring. Both sides carry Wexler's master die doubling: WMDO-001 on the obverse and WMDR-001 on the reverse. Obverse markers: a crack with small chips on the bridge of the nose; a crack across the back of the mouth; a gouge to the left of TRUST's final T; and a small gouge right of the date's first 2, at its base. Reverse markers: a large triangular gouge left of the doubled earring; a gouge lying between the R of PLURIBUS and the second U of UNUM, at their right sides; and left of the Q in QUARTER, a gouge close to the rim. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. VarietyVista lists it as VDDR-001. Wexler notes this listing replaces an earlier one; the first WDDR-001 turned out to be machine doubling.
