2022 (D) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-004

Description

2022-D WDDR-004 is a doubled die reverse on the 2022-D Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Moderate extra thickness runs through the reverse lettering, and USA (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA) shows a fair degree of separation. Obverse markers: a NW/SE crack on the forehead; a gouge far beneath LIBERTY's B; many small gouges between GOD's G and O and below them; and two gouges SW of the U in TRUST. On the reverse, a crack crosses the left part of the shield's top, with a small chip over the first U of PLURIBUS on its left side. Other gouges: near the rim, far west of UNITED's U; below the I in UNITED; between STATES's last S and the O of OF; right of the M in UNUM; on the shield's seventh stripe, under the C of CENT; and two under the scroll on its left side. Frank Baumann III submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
