2020 (P) Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse VDDR-002

Description

VDDR-002, a doubled die reverse for a 2020 America the Beautiful Quarter, displays strong spread in the west direction visible as an extra upper notched root in the reverse design. VarietyVista assigned preliminary die markers UVC-???? and DMR-00?, indicating this variety awaits final attribution codes — a status common for recently discovered varieties still being processed. Three die stages are documented: Stage A with both reverse and obverse in Early Die State (EDS), Stage B in MDS (unconfirmed), and Stage C in LDS (unconfirmed). The "strong spread West" classification marks this as a high-intensity doubled die where the secondary image is displaced to the left at a degree that may be visible under relatively low magnification. The notched root design element appearing doubled connects this variety to one of the 2020 ATB quarter designs featuring natural features — the 2020 issues honored National Park of American Samoa, Weir Farm, Salt River Bay, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller, and Tallgrass Prairie. The ATB program's final issues in 2020 and 2021 closed out a twelve-year series. Strong spread on a distinctive design element like a notched root provides an accessible diagnostic that collectors can verify against reference images.
