Description
The 2020 (P) Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve Quarter was struck at the Philadelphia Mint as a quarter in the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts a red mangrove tree in early growth stages. Salt River Bay marks the only documented site where members of a Columbus expedition set foot on what is now U.S. territory, and it protects a remarkable mangrove estuary. National Park of American Samoa (AS), Weir Farm (CT), Salt River Bay (VI), Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller (VT), and Tallgrass Prairie (KS) were featured. The final full year of the program, with pandemic-related production adjustments. Estimated market value ranges from $0.25 to $1 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #812436.
