2020 (P) Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

2020-P VI WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 2020-P Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve quarter (U.S. Virgin Islands) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Left of the knotted upper root, a partial extra root can be seen. Obverse markers: abrasion from feeder finger scrapes over the Y in LIBERTY, under the ear and behind the neck; several small gouges between the bases of the T and Y in LIBERTY; a gouge over the T of QUARTER; a small gouge SE of the designer's initials JF; a gouge left of the U in TRUST, near its top; a small gouge left of the G in GOD; a gouge right of the R in AMERICA; and a gouge halfway between the mouth and the U of UNITED. Reverse markers: in the designer's initials RaM, a chip in the R's upper opening and a gouge under that R; cracks through the rightmost leaves and a gouge to their right; and several gouges over the leaves that sit under BAY. Eric Schmidt submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes this listing replaces an earlier one; on re-examination, the first WDDR-002 proved to be machine doubling.
