2015 (P) Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse VDDR-018

Description

VDDR-018 is a VarietyVista-attributed doubled die reverse variety on the 2015-P Bombay Hook National Park Quarter. The doubling produces a light spread to the south visible as extra blades of grass appearing beneath the right end of the upper grass strip on the reverse, a subtle but confirmable detail within the Delaware wildlife refuge design. Die state documentation runs to four stages: Stage A is Early Die State, currently unconfirmed; Stage B — confirmed as Early Die State on the reverse — is marked by feeder finger damage running southeast through the center of the reverse, while the obverse is at a Middle Die State; Stage C is Middle Die State and Stage D is Late Die State, both currently unconfirmed. The UVC and DMR codes for this die are pending attribution and are recorded as UVC-???? and DMR-0?? in the VarietyVista catalog. The 2015-P Bombay Hook Quarter was struck in copper-nickel clad at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. Cross-reference: VarietyVista VDDR-018.
