2015 (P) Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

2015-P DE WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 2015-P Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge quarter (Delaware) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling takes the form of an extra grass blade on the right side of the middle strip of grass, in the gap separating the great egret from the great blue heron. Obverse Stage A has a light crack across the bust's base, and the J of the designer's initials carries a small die chip. On Stage B the chip on the J has grown; a second chip has formed at the E end of the crack across the initials; and a very strong flow line runs S off the right side of QUARTER's T. Reverse Stage A has die chips on the great blue heron's beak, under its eye, and behind its eye. On Stage B the chip under the eye has grown and a second chip has formed to its right; there are new chips at the top of the heron's head, a large one on its neck, three at the base of the neck, one on the lower wing feathers, and a large chip on the island in the background.
