Description

On the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge quarter from the America the Beautiful series, VDDR-017 displays light spread to the south, manifesting as extra blades of grass under the right end of the upper grass strip. The Bombay Hook design features a Great Blue Heron, and die stage progression has been documented across three stages. Stage A is an unconfirmed early die state. Stage B advances to MDS with a die break at the upper beak of the Great Blue Heron, while the obverse reaches MDS. Stage C is an unconfirmed late die state. Cataloged as UVC-???? and DMR-0??, the provisional classification codes indicate this variety awaits final confirmation numbering. The grass-area doubling provides a clear diagnostic against the horizontal strip, and the Stage B beak break on the heron offers a prominent die-state marker on the design's central element.
