Description

2015-P DE WDDR-017 is a doubled die reverse on the 2015-P Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge quarter (Delaware) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling takes the form of extra grass blades over the right end of the upper strip of grass, in the gap separating the great egret from the great blue heron. Obverse Stage A has a gouge south of the UN of UNITED and a gouge (dot) right of the bottom of UNITED's I. Obverse Stage B is a late die state (LDS): the Stage A markers have all worn away, a crack runs E from the designer's initials JF, and many gouges lie over IN GOD. Reverse Stage A has a die chip under the great blue heron's eye. On Reverse Stage B the Stage A chips have grown, more chips appear on the beak, on the upper eye, and on the back of the head and neck, and many gouges lie under the heron's head. Stephen Young submitted Stage A and George W. Powell, Jr. Stage B. VarietyVista lists it as VDDR-021.
