2015 (P) Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-014

Description

2015-P DE WDDR-014 is a doubled die reverse on the 2015-P Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge quarter (Delaware) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling takes the form of an extra grass blade on the right side of the middle strip of grass, in the gap separating the great egret from the great blue heron. Obverse Stage A has a die chip left of the designer's initials and a small chip between them. On Stage B the chip between the initials is much larger, a crack runs E from the F of the initials, and a gouge lies between LIBERTY's T and Y; Wexler says that Stage B gouge may or may not be present on earlier stages. On Reverse Stage A, the great blue heron has a die chip under its eye. Reverse Stage B adds a small chip on top of the heron's head, a gouge on the background island at its left end, and a large but weak gouge right of the heron; these Stage B gouges, Wexler says, may or may not be present on earlier stages.
