2015 (P) Saratoga National Historical Park Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-019

Description

2015-P NY WDDR-019 is a doubled die reverse on the 2015-P Saratoga National Historical Park quarter (New York) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Very slight doubling sits within the lower right opening of the handle of General Burgoyne's sword. Obverse markers: a gouge at the lower right inside of OF's O; a gouge left of OF's F; a gouge over the left side of DOLLAR's D; and a small gouge over LIBERTY's Y. Reverse markers: a die chip on the sword's guard under the ring finger; a chip on Burgoyne's pinky; a gouge left of SURRENDER's S; a gouge over Burgoyne's hand; and a gouge SW of the quillon of the sword. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes that it closely resembles WDDR-012 and suggests comparing the doubling and die markers of the two.
