Description

2015-P NY WDDR-018 is a doubled die reverse on the 2015-P Saratoga National Historical Park quarter (New York) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Very slight doubling sits within the lower right opening of the handle of General Burgoyne's sword. Obverse markers: a crack across the bust's base over QUARTER's last R and DOLLAR's D; a large gouge in the inner right corner of LIBERTY's T; a large gouge at the rim over UNITED's T and two more at the rim over UNITED's D; a gouge under UNITED's D; a gouge left of the bottom of STATES' E; and a small patch of die pitting inside QUARTER's Q. Reverse markers: a crack across the sword's guard; a large field gouge NW of the designer's initials BF; a large gouge touching the left side of SURRENDER's U; two gouges NW of SURRENDER's S; a large gouge over BRITISH's R; and a large gouge over the right side of the sword's handle.
