Description
Doubling shows inside the lower right opening in the handle of General Burgoyne’s sword.Die Markers: Obverse: Die gouge right of the last L in DOLLAR. Die gouge between the I and C in AMERICA. Reverse: Die dot left of the doubling. NW/SE die scratches below General Gates's thumb. Curved die gouge touches the upper left inside of the sword guard. Die gouge right of General Burgoyne's pinky.Submitted By: George W. Powell, Jr.Cross References: None known Obverse: Feeder finger damage between the Y in LIBERTY and the neck. Die gouge centered in the D in UNITED. Reverse: NNW/SSE die scratch through the S in SURRENDER. Two NNW/SSE die scratches above the handle of the sword.
