Description

Doubling shows inside the lower right opening in the handle of General Burgoyne’s sword. Die Markers: Obverse: Short die crack across the base of the bust. Small die gouge above the right side of the D in UNITED. Die gouge touches the inner left side of the Q in QUARTER. Reverse: Strong NW/SE die scratches between the designer's initials RG and the 1 in 1777. Two small die gouges between the S and U in SURRENDER. Obverse:
