2015 (P) Saratoga National Historical Park Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-011

Description

2015-P NY WDDR-011 is a doubled die reverse on the 2015-P Saratoga National Historical Park quarter (New York) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling sits within the lower right opening of the handle of General Burgoyne's sword. Obverse Stage A has feeder finger scrapes between the Y and the neck and under the ear; a strong scratch running SE off LIBERTY's R; a strong NE/SW scratch left of the bust's tip; a strong scratch running NW off QUARTER's last R; a thin E/W scratch through the hair and the field left of GOD's G; and thin NW/SE scratches on the back of the neck. On Stage B the Stage A markers are probably weak but still present, and there is a small gouge beside the top of DOLLAR's D on its left, plus a small gouge (dot) over LIBERTY's R. Reverse Stage A has a pair of small gouges to the right of the sleeve's lower frill on Burgoyne; on Reverse Stage B they are weak but still present. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety.
