Description

2013-P MD WDDR-009 is a doubled die reverse on the 2013-P Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine quarter (Maryland) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is spread to the south, on the right roof and the base of the arch. Obverse Stage A has a scratch heading WSW from the chin. On Stage B that scratch has worn away, and new gouges appear: inside and over DOLLAR's O; on the nose; over the P mint mark; a large one over the right side of LIBERTY's B, far to the left of the chin; over the right side of LIBERTY's E; in the inner right corner of AMERICA's M; in the lower opening of AMERICA's R; and inside AMERICA's C. Wexler notes no significant markers on Reverse Stage A. Reverse Stage B has a gouge under the right tip of the flag and one over the left roof, between the sprays of the lower firework burst. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
