2013 (P) Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse DDR-007

Description

A documented doubled die reverse for a 2013 America the Beautiful quarter, this variety exhibits a medium spread North on the lower flag and the right side bomb trails — design elements from the Fort McHenry National Monument quarter honoring the birthplace of the Star-Spangled Banner in Maryland. Die markers UVC-2220 and DMR-008 identify the specific die pair, with Stage A showing both the reverse and obverse in early die state (EDS), while Stages B (MDS) and C (LDS) remain unconfirmed. Cataloged by VarietyVista, this variety demonstrates how the America the Beautiful quarter program (2010-2021), with its rotating reverse designs depicting national parks and monuments, created fresh opportunities for die variety discovery on each new issue. The Fort McHenry design by Joseph Menna shows the flag flying over the fort beneath fireworks that recall the British bombardment of 1814, and the detailed flag ripples and firework trails provided fine design elements where hub displacement could produce visible doubling. The ATB program's five-designs-per-year cadence meant each design saw limited die life before being retired, making documented varieties from any single design inherently limited in population.
