Description
Trails on 2012P-5DER-007T sit over the US in PLURIBUS and across UNUM, as well as on the right part of Monticello's roof and the right bay windows, running at 010°, just east of north. In TrailDies' scheme, 2012P is the year and mint, 5 the denomination, DER the reverse-side extension, 007 the file and T the trail suffix. The middle-die-state coin described has a die chip on the L of LIBERTY and, on the reverse, a small gouge below and left of the O in OF. Tanaka (Mikee) Davis is the finder. The common view is that a rotary buff polished these lines into the die; a less common one blames the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – a die chip is seen on the L of LIBERTY.
- Reverse is MDS – a small die gouge is seen to the left and below the O in OF.
