2011 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-005

Description

2011 WDDO-005 is a doubled die obverse on the 2011 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. LIBERTY, the date and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST all show strong extra thickness, and separation lines are visible on the date and on the letters of TRUST. Obverse markers: right of the D in GOD, low down, a gouge; over the zero in the date, a small gouge; NW of the 2, a gouge; near the vest, well south of the 2, another gouge; and a SW to NE crack through the hair at the upper back of the head. Reverse markers: a gouge between OF and AMERICA (between the F and the first A), and a gouge right of the N in CENT at its base. John Horengic submitted the variety; the photos were upgraded from a coin submitted by Marilyn Keeney. Its Coppercoins number is 2011P-1DO-006; Crawford lists it as CDDO-008 and CONECA as 2-O-VI. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
