2011 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-003

Description

2011 WDDO-003 is a doubled die obverse on the 2011 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The date's digits show extra thickness, with notching at the lower left of the 2 and of both 1s. Obverse markers: a small gouge (dot) under the R in LIBERTY; a gouge under the ST of TRUST; a small gouge left of the 2; and a crack heading NW through the eyebrow into the forehead. Reverse markers: a scratch going SSW from the P in PLURIBUS, at the middle of its left side; a strong SW to NE gouge through its LUR; two short parallel WSW to ENE gouges between the bottoms of the B and U; a WNW to ESE scratch through the lower S; a crack down the banner's right edge, with chips on that edge right of the top of the T in CENT; a crack along the shield's top left side; and a chip on the shield's top left, north of the RI in PLURIBUS. Joseph Koelling submitted the variety. Crawford lists it as CDDO-002.
