2010 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DER-012T Trail Die Reverse

Description

On 2010P-1DER-012T the trails run east, 090°, toward the right edge, from MERIC in AMERICA, all of UNUM, CEN in CENT and the right-hand designer's initials. The number stands for a 2010 Philadelphia cent (2010P, 1), reverse design extension (DER), file 012, trail type (T). The middle-die-state coin has a crack in Lincoln's hair under WE on the obverse and a scratch just left of AMERICA's I on the reverse. Aisha Shahid found the die. The usual view is that trails come from polishing of the die with a rotary buff; some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.

• Reverse is MDS – a die scratch is seen to the left of the I in AMERICA.
