2010 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DER-011T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Light trails leave the MERI of AMERICA on 2010P-1DER-011T, with a trace more from the middle bar of the F in OF, all at 120°, down and to the right. It is paired with the obverse trail die 2010P-1DEO-010T, which has trails from the bottom of the date at 200°. The code reads 2010P, 1, DER, 011, T: year and Philadelphia mint, cent, reverse design extension, file, trails. On the early-die-state pair, almost invisible abrasions lie in front of Lincoln's mouth, and a little group of gouges sits beside the LB initials on the reverse. Lynn Morace found it. Trails are commonly blamed on polishing the die with a rotary buff, with some instead favouring the die moving against the hub.
