2010 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DER-010T Trail Die Reverse

Description

2010P-1DER-010T is the reverse mate of the obverse trail die 2010P-1DEO-009T. Its own trails leave the bottom right corners of each letter of STATES OF at 120°, east-southeast. The number gives 2010 and P for date and Philadelphia mint, the 1 of a cent, DER showing the trails are on the reverse, 010 for its file and T. To pick it out on the middle-die-state coin, look for a chip on the upper left rim of the shield, a scratch across the E of UNITED and a small gouge in that word's T; no obverse markers are listed. Jason Dick found the pair. Trails are often traced to polishing of the die with a rotary buff, though some instead point to the die moving against the hub.
