2010 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DER-009T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Trails on 2010P-1DER-009T point straight up at 000°, due north, from the top corners of IT in UNITED and of AMERI in AMERICA. TrailDies builds the number from the date and mint (2010P), the denomination (1), the reverse design-extension tag (DER), file 009 and T for trails. In its middle die state a crack runs from Lincoln's brow across his forehead into the hairline; on the reverse two small dents lie left of ONE's O. Jason Dick found it. Trails are usually explained by rotary polishing of the die; a minority attributes them to the die moving against the hub.

• Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – a die crack is seen from Lincoln’s brow through the forehead and into the hair line.
• Reverse is MDS – two small die dents are seen to the left of the O in ONE.
