Description
Trails from the bottoms of the letters in STATES OF on 2010P-1DER-007T run at 120°, east-southeast, down and to the right. The code combines 2010P (Philadelphia, 2010), 1 (cent), DER (reverse design extension), 007 (file) and T (trails). TrailDies' middle-die-state coin has a crack over the top of Lincoln's head between GOD and WE; on the reverse there is a chip on the shield's edge, over the E and P of PLURIBUS. Albert Neils found it. A close match is 2010P-1DER-010T, with trails from STATES OF at the same 120°; that die has a chip high on the left rim of the shield and a scratch and gouge in UNITED instead. Trails are put down by most to rotary polishing of the die, and by some to the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – a die crack is seen in the top portion of Lincoln’s head in between GOD and WE.
- Reverse is MDS – a die chip is seen on the edge of the shield above the E and P of PLURIBUS.
