2010 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DEO-012T Trail Die Obverse

Description

2010P-1DEO-012T has two sets of trails at slightly different angles. Those from the ST of TRUST run at 340°, north-northwest, and an apparent second set from the IBERT of LIBERTY runs at 355°, almost due north; the entry's heading prints 40° and 355°, but its text gives 340°. TrailDies' number reads 2010P (year and Philadelphia mint), 1 (cent), DEO (obverse design extension), 012 (file), T (trails). Markers on the middle-die-state coin are a gouge below the 1 of the date and a crack across Lincoln's hair, with a gouge to the left of the shield and EPU on the reverse. Mark Britton is the finder. Trails are generally put down to rotary polishing of the die; some see the die moving against the hub as the cause.
