Description

Discovered by Jean Lee, the 2010P-1DEO-005T is a trail die obverse variety found on Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Shield Cents—the first year of the Shield reverse design introduced in 2010. Documented at Stage C with the obverse at late die state, a large die crack is visible in Lincoln's head, serving as the primary obverse attribution marker. The reverse, also at LDS, shows die cracks emanating from the left and middle upper points of the shield design. Trail die obverse varieties are less commonly cataloged than their reverse counterparts, making this listing notable within the Lincoln Shield Cent trail die series. The late die state on both sides indicates extensive production use, with the head crack on the obverse and the shield-point cracks on the reverse reflecting advanced die fatigue.
