2010 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DEO-004T Trail Die Obverse
Error
Description
Faint trails leave WE and the uppermost lock of Lincoln's hair on 2010P-1DEO-004T, running at 080°, a little north of due east. The number gives 2010P for date and Philadelphia mint, the digit 1 for a cent, DEO for an obverse trail die, file 004 and T. On TrailDies' middle-die-state coin a small die dot sits just right of LIBERTY's E, and on the reverse cracks show at the top of the shield and at its upper left corner. Jean Lee found it, and also found 2010P-1DEO-003T, whose faint trails come from much the same area at 070°. Trails are usually put down to the die being polished with a rotary tool; some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – a small die dot is seen to the right of the E in LIBERTY
- Reverse is MDS – a die crack is seen on the top of the shield. Another die crack is seen on the top left corner of the shield.
