2010 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DEO-001T Trail Die Obverse
Error
Description
On 2010P-1DEO-001T the trails rise from the tops of the LIBERTY letters toward 350°, just west of straight up. It is file 001 in TrailDies' list of 2010 Philadelphia obverses, and the number reads as 2010P (2010, Philadelphia), 1 (one cent), DEO (obverse design extension), 001 (file) and T (trails). The middle-die-state coin has a short crack in Lincoln's brow, and on the reverse a small crack leaves the top point of the shield. Jean Lee found the die. Polishing of the die with a rotary buff is the explanation most often given; others attribute trails to the die moving against the hub.
