Description
Trails on 2010P-5DER-001T come off the LUR and the I of PLURIBUS and head 030°, north-northeast, toward the upper right. TrailDies' file number covers a 2010 Philadelphia nickel (2010P, 5), a reverse design extension (DER), file 001 and the trail type (T). The middle-die-state coin it describes has scratches above the LIB of LIBERTY on the obverse and, on the reverse, a gouge above the E that opens the motto. Tanaka Davis found the die. Trail lines of this kind are normally put down to rotary die polishing; a minority of specialists attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – die scratches are seen above the LIB of LIBERTY.
- Reverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen above the E of EPU.
